Even the most sociable animal may show aggressive behavior during an emergency or in an unfamiliar environment. Knowing how to properly and safely handle displaced, injured or anxious animals will go far in reducing further stress to the animals, as well as reduce any risk of injury to you.
Learning Outcomes
You will be equipped with the necessary skills to handle dogs and cats that are aggressive or show unpredictable temperament using safe and effective methods. You will also learn to understand the importance of canine body language to prevent bite incidents.

Lesson Plan
- interpret canine and feline aggressive body language
- prevent bites
- safely handle aggressive dogs and cats with minimal stress to the animals
- restrain aggressive animals using appropriate technique
- apply dog muzzling techniques
- keep employees or volunteers safe while working with dogs and cats with different temperaments
Trainer's Profile
Marcus Royston Tan has been a volunteer with animal shelters since 2004. His passion for animals led him into a career in vet nursing since 2008. Marcus and a team of four others have since set up Causes For Animals Singapore (CAS), a local animal welfare charity. He has since been the shelter manager at Causes for Animals Singapore and manages all the animals that come through the shelter doors. Marcus has equipped himself with Cert II in Veterinary Nursing from AIRC Australia as well as multiple dog training and behaviour courses held overseas. Marcus is now an AVA accredited dog trainer. With all this training and knowledge, he can help more animals in need.
Certification
This course will be delivered in English and has NO assessment.
Certificate of Participation will be awarded to participants who achieve at least 75% attendance.

Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP)
