Course Information

The landscape of financial services is evolving to one that embraces technology to better serve the ever-changing needs of the modern customer, offering greater flexibility and wider choices. Those who adapt to these innovations, stand to drive growth and sustainability within the industry, while gaining the upper-hand in business.

Learning Outcomes

Acquire knowledge and skills to apply financial services knowledge and processes to new FinTech business models, develop financial analytics projects using business intelligence techniques, develop applications using open banking APIs, and apply blockchain concepts to model and develop smart contracts. This Specialist Diploma is joint collaboration between Ngee Ann Polytechnic and Temasek Polytechnic.

Lesson Plan

Certificate in FinTech Analytics
This certificate introduces you to core financial services, banking and new FinTech business models. You will learn and compare the current financial processes to new FinTech business models and evaluate their strategic, operational and regulatory requirements based on Singapore's regulatory policies. It also enables you to develop a financial analytics project using business intelligence techniques and tools.
Certificate in FinTech Apps Development
This certificate introduces you to the Object Oriented concepts before moving on the skills required to develop a web application using web application programming interfaces (APIs). You will be introduced to an integrated development environment that will enable you to design and develop web applications and web API over the Internet and learn how to make use of web development technologies such as ASP.NET framework, jQuery for rich internet applications, and data interchange formats such as JSON. It also Introduces you to block chain concepts and how these are being applied using industry use cases. You will also have hands-on experience to create transactions on a block chain to better understand the underlying concepts. You will get a chance to develop your own block chain prototype which includes defining the assets, transactions and participants. You will have the opportunity to build your own Smart Contracts to be executed on this block chain.

Trainer's Profile

Marcus Phua

Mr. Marcus Phua is the Senior Manager and Section Head of Banking and Finance Technology for Diploma in Financial Informatics, and Senior Lecturer with Ngee Ann Polytechnic School of InfoComm Technology. He is also the Programme Manager for Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s Specialist Diploma in FinTech. Prior to joining Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Marcus has worked in the global financial markets sector.

He has broad-ranging experience across derivatives analytics, electronic trading product management, and fixed income research and strategy, covering institutional clients including asset management companies, sovereign wealth funds, central banks, hedge funds. He has also led technology development and enhancement projects in the areas of electronic trading and research analytics.

He holds a Bachelor of Computing in Information Systems from the National University of Singapore.

SkillsFuture Credit
This course is eligible for SkillsFuture Credit.

All Singaporeans aged 25 years and above can use their $500 SkillsFuture Credit from the government to pay f​or a wide range of courses. The credits can be used on top of existing course fee subsidies/funding. This is only applicable for self-sponsored applicants and must be applied via the SkillsFuture Portal.
