Course Information

This course will introduce participants to real estate investment as part of their investment portfolio.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Real Estate as an investment class as compared to shares, mutual trusts, bonds and deposits
  2. Know and understand the Cash Flow, Financial Leveraging and Risks
  3. Know and understand time value of money (TVM), and the discounted cash flow (DCF) model and the concepts of Net Present Value (NPV).
  4. Know and understand the Financial Analysis used in decision-making criteria for a real estate investment

Trainer's Profile

Dennis Tay

Dennis Tay is currently a registered salesperson with VestAsia Pte Ltd as a Director, Corporate Real Estate Services and has more than 31 years’ experience in the real estate industry. He previously worked for the developer, Keppel Land as General Manager, Marketing, in charge of the sale and marketing of projects in China, India, Indonesia, Vietnam and Singapore. In the area of consultancy and brokerage, Dennis Tay was the director for Investment Properties in CB Richard Ellis Singapore. His overseas postings include Shanghai as Senior Manager and later on as Managing Director, CBRE Beijing. He was also involved in the real estate agency industry when he joined SAEA as CEO in 2013; and assisted in the formation of the Singapore Estate Agents Association (SEAA) in 2016.

Dennis Tay graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1988 with a Degree in Estate Management and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration in 2008 from the same university. He has a Diploma in Marketing awarded by Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK and WSQ Advance Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA). His teaching experiences include RES and CPD Trainer with Singapore Estate Agents Association (SEAA), Part-time Tutor with National University of Singapo

Applicants with any of the following qualifications are invited to apply for the course:
  • Preferably to have a real estate salesperson license.
  • Interested in investments in stocks, properties, mutual funds etc
  • Public and industry professionals are all welcome to attend this CPD Course
  • Property agents serving customers who invest in properties
  • Real estate salespersons with more than 2 years in active property transactions for themselves or clients
  • Property Agencies, owners, KEOs, Investment Department executives, en-bloc or collective sales property agents.
