Course Objectives

Upon completion of the Diploma, the graduate would:
•   have acquired a working knowledge of managing human resource, digital marketing strategies and entrepreneurial strategies;
•   be able to plan, administer and improve business operations and governance in the areas of service operations, business communications and corporate governance;
•   be able to apply fundamental knowledge and skills in business analytics, accounting & finance, and international business & economics;
•   be able to apply digital skills, green skills and I4.0 skills in supply chain management to create innovative business models for a sustainable future;
•   have adopted a more global and professional outlook;
•   have developed critical core skills, particularly creative thinking, self-management and influence which are essential for supporting business transformation;

Course Description

This module provides students with basic accounting and finance knowledge. Students will be taught how to interpret and use financial accounting information for decision-making. This module will also cover budgeting, financing strategies, working capital management as well as capital investment analysis.
Business Statistics & Applications (NP-013294)
Students will be introduced to the basic concepts of statistics for decisionmaking in the business world. They will be taught how to organise and analyse data, and interpret the results. Student will learn to create, capture and manipulate data in spreadsheet formats to help businesses solve business problems and improve business operations and processes. Students will also learn to organise and present data using spreadsheets to aid in their analysis and interpretation.
International Business & Economics (NP-013299)
This module provides students with an understanding of the importance of globalisation, the need for cultural knowledge and micro and macroeconomic concepts in a global business setting in order to describe and explain how markets and economies function as well as the various considerations businesses have when operating in an international setting. Students will see how governance and innovation in businesses is impacted by different forms of competition, major macroeconomic factors, globalisation and cultural differences.

Digital Marketing Strategies for Success (NP-0112DMSS)
This module offers a comprehensive exploration of the fundamental principles of marketing which spans from traditional to digital media to deliver customer value and engagement with the use of social networks and technologies. It equips learners with the knowledge and applications of digital marketing frameworks and to implement competitive digital marketing strategies to navigate today’s ever-evolving business landscape.
Entrepreneurial Strategies for Business Management (NP-0113ESBM)
In this module, the principles of entrepreneurship intersect with business management. This helps business managers to bring modern solutions to modern businesses. The key focus of this module is to introduce new product and service ideation, design thinking and lean start-up technology to learners. They will learn to generate innovative ideas to capture new market opportunities. As risk is a big part of innovation, learners till learn customer validation process to manage risk. Learners will gain practical insights into managing businesses with an entrepreneurial mindset and thrive in a competitive business landscape.
People & Culture (NP-0111PPLC)
This module empowers learners to design inclusive cultures through the interdisciplinary blending of organisational psychology and human capital management principles. Learners will learn about creating positive employee experience through topics that include talent attraction and selection, talent development, rewards and performance management and employee relations.

Effective Business Communication (NP-0122EBC)
This is a practical module that aims to develop effective and persuasive written and spoken business communication skills. Learners will develop their confidence in writing effective business messages and to make impactful business presentations. They will also learn personal branding skills and employment communication skills. For employment communication skills, learners will learn to write a persuasive resume and master job interview skills. Lessons are conducted in workshops with practical assignments and role-plays.
Law & Governance (NP-013298)
This module provides student with an understanding of the essential legal rules and governance structures that apply to businesses. Students will see how firms operate within the Singapore legal system and framework and apply the laws of contract, tort, agency, business organisations and intellectual property to structure sound business transactions. Principles of business ethics and good governance will also be infused throughout the module.
Service Operations Management (NP-013271)
This module introduces students to the principles of service, operations and customer relationship management (CRM) in service organisations. Key concepts covered include service encounters, service excellence and customer loyalty, service psychology, service quality, forecasting demand for services and inventory management. In addition, the module will also cover the application of CRM concepts in different areas of the organization, business intelligence as well as the development and implementation of a CRM business plan.

Business Analytics (NP-013295)
This module aims to introduce students to the fundamental concepts of business analytics to develop efficient analysis and reporting solutions. It explores the use of both business and technical topics that support the manager in the analysis of data for business decision and strategy making. Students will learn the analysis tools to make better use of data to set goals, measure progress, effectively communicate ideas, and make fast and correct decisions.
Emerging Practices in Business (NP-013297)
Students will learn about business processes and platforms typical in business enterprises, from customer services to product sales, business processes such as human resource management, administration and procurements, accounting and finance, amongst others. This module explores how digital technologies can be used to transform these business processes to increase efficiency and raised productivity for the business. Further, students will be challenged to rethink business and business processes to derive new and possibly disruptive models of businesses through digitalization, such as eCommerce, Deliveries and AR/VR.
User-centred Design in Business (NP-0142UCDB)
This module provides learners with practical insights and methods into designing content for digital media communication using user-centred design principles and approaches. With the use of software such as Adobe Photoshop, learners will apply these principles to address issues related to user experience design, information design, interface design, presentation, imagery and visualisation of information on various digital devices and platforms.

Global Trade & Forwarding Management (NP-0161GTFM)
This module covers a wide range of topics such as international trade logistics, trade restrictions and customs practices. The management issues of import and export financing will also be covered. The module will enable learners to understand the policies, operations, logistics solutions, regulations and documentation related to freight forwarding.
Global Transportation Management (NP-0162GTM)
This module introduces the different modes of transport, namely land, air and sea, which are vital in facilitating international trade. The module will enable learners to understand route optimisation, and handling and transportation of different types of product, such as foodstuff, chemical and pharmaceutical products. Learners will be introduced to last mile delivery logistics and how it is shaping the future of urban transportation.
Warehouse & Fulfillment Management (NP-0163WFM)
Learners will understand how planning and automation drive efficient inventory control and storage management. The module will cover concepts of inventory planning and fulfillment, warehouse functions and decisions, handling and storage of products, and warehouse design and strategy. Learners will also be introduced to storage for temperature-controlled and hazardous products.

International Procurement & Supply Management (NP-0173IPSM)
Learners will learn how to select, engage and manage suppliers around the world. From prioritising requisitions to conducting financial analysis of suppliers to ensuring supplier compliance, learners will be trained to conduct negotiations and manage the entire procurement process. This module emphasises the role of ethics in the corporate world and highlights the impact of sound ethical practices on governance and sustainability. Learners will learn how open and transparent relationships with stakeholders, strong corporate governance and ethical behaviour can lead to achieving their organisation's sustainability goals. By the end of the module, learners will be equipped to apply these principles in business operations to create a sustainable future.
Sustainable Business (NP-0151STBB)
Sustainable Business teaches learners the intricate relationship between economic, environmental, and social sustainability. By exploring the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and technology implementation, learners will learn the importance of sustainable business practices. Upon completing this module, learners will understand the sustainable value and work towards achieving the SDGs meaningfully within the corporate world.
