Course Information

Android phone dominates more than 80% of the smart phone market share. The Android operating system, with its open source in nature, presents flexibility and support for third-party applications. This has given rise to a huge amount of popularity of the Android OS not only among consumers, but also enterprises.

Android application development is fast becoming an important field in infocomm technology. If you have the skills to develop an Android app, this world can be your oyster.

Learning Outcomes

Develop and publish your first android app in Play Store! This practical oriented course is designed to enable participants to get started with Android application development. You’ll learn how to implement simple applications with multiple activities, learn how to persist data in the app, as well as publish a basic mobile app in the app store.

A. Introduction to Android Apps (2 hours)

Android App Building Blocks – Android Project Structure and Resources Management

B. Basic Android App (6 hours)

– Basic Layouts and UI Components – Android Activities – Intent – Data Persistence – AdapterView and Adapter

C. Advanced Features (4 hours)

Broadcast Receiver – Alarm Manager and Notification Manager – Accessing Web Services

D. App Publishing to Play Store (2 hours)

Register Google Developer Account – Publish app to Play Store

Hong Lei

Ms Hong Lei graduated from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) with Master of Science in Signal Processing, Electronics & Electrical Engineering. She has 12 years of working experience in embedded system development and software consultation.

Certification

Certificate of Participation will be awarded to participants who achieve at least 75% attendance.


Entry Requirements

Applicants should have basic programming skills.

Course Fees

Funding period for this course is from 23 Aug 2019 to 30 Sep 2024.

SkillsFuture Credit
