Lesson Plan

Post-Diploma Certificate in Creative Technologist Fundamentals (Semester 1)
Module
Mastering Design Thinking
The Mastering Design Thinking module is a comprehensive and immersive course that empowers students to excel in design thinking. Going beyond the basics, this module explores the depths of creativity and equips students with essential skills to become proficient problem solvers and innovative thinkers. Students will learn to empathise with users, redefine problems, and generate groundbreaking solutions through a human-centred approach. With a focus on pushing the boundaries of creativity and advancing design thinking frameworks, this module prepares students to tackle diverse real-world challenges and make a meaningful impact.
Module
Coding Fundamentals
This module introduces the fundamentals of programming and how to develop programs using appropriate problem-solving techniques in a modular style. In this practice-oriented module, students are taught how to apply problem-solving skills using a top-down structured programming methodology and given ample practice in translating solutions into computer programs, and then testing and debugging the programs. Topics include data types, variables, expressions, statements, selection structures, loops, simple computation and algorithms, and the use of libraries. Students will also practise using pseudocodes, best practices of programming, debugging techniques with the help of tools, development of test cases, and suitable program documentation. In addition, they will study various areas where application software plays a prominent part in helping organisations solve problems. Students will be given ample opportunity for independent and self-directed learning.
Module
Interaction Design
This is a comprehensive module that introduces students to the world of interactive design using the powerful p5.js framework. Students will also be introduced to the use of Generative AI for Design. Through hands-on projects and practical exercises, students will learn the principles and techniques of interactive design, including user-centred design, usability testing, and interaction design patterns. They will gain proficiency in using p5.js to create interactive projects, animations, and visualisations while also exploring responsive design and accessibility.
Post-Diploma Certificate in Creative Technologist (Semester 2)
Module
Exploring Electronics
The Exploring Electronics module is a comprehensive course that introduces students to electronics, Arduino programming, and prototyping interactive projects. It covers fundamentals like components, circuits, and electrical principles, while emphasising hands-on learning through practical projects and building creativity and problem solving skills in electronics
Module
Rapid Prototyping (DS Briefing)
The Introduction to 3D Printing and Rapid Prototyping module is a hands-on course that explores the fundamentals of 3D printing, including technologies, materials, and software. Students gain practical experience in designing and fabricating prototypes while understanding the value of rapid prototyping in the product development cycle. Real-world applications and case studies broaden their understanding of the technology's impact. By the end of the module, students will have the skills to innovate using 3D printing.
Module
Design Studio (OJT / Integrated Project)
This module is the culmination of the Creative Technologist program, providing students with an opportunity to apply their knowledge, skills, and creativity to ideate, design, and build an interactive project of their own. This module aims to foster innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities as students embark on a comprehensive project that integrates various technologies, artistic elements, and user experiences. Through hands-on exploration, experimentation, and collaboration, students will bring their ideas to life, creating interactive projects that showcase their mastery of creative technology.
