About Course

Course Objectives

Today’s business organisations depend on information systems in virtually all aspects of their businesses. Corporate databases are set up to hold the voluminous business transactions generated by these information systems. This module introduces learners to the underlying concepts of database systems and on how to model and design database systems that reflect business requirements. Skills to be taught include data modelling technique, transformation of data model to relations, normalisation technique and SQL (structured query language).

Course Description

Databases - Part of Modular Certificate in Back-End Development (DFSD) is a 30hrs module. In this module, you will:
1. Understand the underlying concepts of database systems.
2. Learn how to model and design database systems that reflect business requirements.
3. Acquire skills in data modelling techniques.
4. Transform data models into relational databases.
5. Apply normalization techniques to ensure data integrity.
6. Gain proficiency in SQL (Structured Query Language).
