Course Objectives

This course will help learners to pick up Smart and Sustainable Facilities Management skills which are essential skills listed in the Facilities Management Job Transformation Map. These are essential skills to help the FM industry digitalisation and automation drives.

Targeting at mid-career individuals, the course with its' attachment will help learners to re-skill so that they can join the facilities management industry.

Course Description

This couse seeks to help learners to develop knowledge and skills in mechanical and electrical services operations as well as applying green and sustainability initiatives in the management of facilities. Learners will also develop capabilities in the areas of digitalisation in facilities management, smart facilities management, internet of things, data analytics, cloud computing, digital twin, workplace & location management, clean air solutions, energy & asset management, connected chillers and remote advisory services.

Trainer's Profile

Leon Pey

Leon started his tertiary education journey by completing a Diploma in Building and Real Estate Management at Ngee Ann Polytechnic before moving on to complete a Bachelor of Business (Property) at the University of South Australia where he graduated with the prestigious University of South Australia Medal. Subsequently, he moved on to complete the Master of Science (Real Estate) at the National University of Singapore and the Master of Education at The University of Adelaide.

On the professional front, he is currently a member of the Singapore Institute of Surveyors and Valuers, the International Facility Management Association and the Singapore Institute of Safety Officers. His professional qualifications and experiences have also enabled him to be registered as a Business Continuity Certified Expert, Certified Risk Manager, Licensed Appraisal, LUMA Certified Practitioner, Senior Fire Safety Manager and Workplace Safety & Health Officer. He has also completed teaching and management courses at the Center of Creative Leadership, Civil Service College (Singapore), Institute of Adult Learning Singapore, Ministry of Education and Ngee Ann Polytechnic.

Leon has been with Ngee Ann Polytechnic since 2007. His areas of competency include asset management, business continuity management, facilities management, fire safety, property management, risk management, valuation as well as workplace safety & health. During his career at Ngee Polytechnic, he has been awarded Teaching Awards as well as the National Day Award: Commendation Medal.

Some of the MNCs, public institutions and SMEs that Leon has worked with are the Association of Property and Facility Management, Colliers International Asset Management (S), Council of Estate Agencies, Johnson Control International (S), Jones Lang Lasalle (S), Keppel FMO, Keppel Land International, Ministry of Manpower, Republic of Singapore Air Force and Singapore Civil Defence Force.

In the Ngee Ann Polytechnic’s CET space, Leon currently lectures on the “Diploma (Conversion) in Facilities Management”, “Diploma in Engineering (Building Services and Fire Safety)” and SkillsFuture Career Transition Programme “Smart and Sustainable Facilities Management”. He also manages the curriculum related to Real Estate Professionals, Facilities Management, Strata Managers, Fire Safety and Workplace Safety & Health Management.

  1. Building Services (Mechanical) (68hrs)
Learners will learn the principles behind the installation, operation and maintenance of facilities and buildings mechanical services such as air-conditioning, mechanical ventilation, fire protection, water supply and sanitary system.
  1. Building Services (Electrical) (68hrs)
Learners will learn the principles behind the installation, operation and maintenance of facilities and buildings electrical services such as electricity supply and circuits. Learners will also learn about the deregulation of energy markets and its impact to the operation of electrical and communication systems.
  1. Green Building Technologies (52hrs)
The application of sustainable and green building design and technologies in the built environment will be taught in this module. After completing the module, learners will be able to improve building management systems performance and energy efficiency.
  1. Security and Environmental Management (56hrs)
This module provides learners with comprehensive knowledge to effectively identify and manage security risks, ensure business continuity, and address workplace safety and health hazards. Additionally, participants will develop essential skills in planning and implementing a broad spectrum of environmental measures, including cleaning and disinfection, pest control, waste management, and other critical environmental practices. These competencies align with the baseline environmental sanitation standards required for maintaining their premises.
  1. Fire and WSH Management (52hrs)
After completing this module, learners will gain the knowledge and skills to assist the Fire Safety Manager. Learners will learn the requirements of the fire safety regulations in the management of fire safety activities and preventive measures. This will enable the promotion of fire safety awareness among building occupants and ensure that the fire safety measures in facilities and buildings are manage well. In view of the importance of Workplace Safety & Health Management, learners will be taught how to do risk management to ensure the safety of the facilities’ users, vendors and suppliers.

Refund and withdrawal policy

  • Please note that a 100% refund will be available if the withdrawal request is submitted more than or equal to 14 days before the course start date.
  • Please note that a 50% refund will be available if the withdrawal request is submitted less than 14 days before the course start date.
  • Please note that no refund will be available if the withdrawal request is submitted on or after the course start date.

Remarks

SkillsFuture Credit (SFC) can only be used to cover:
(i) Course fees payable;
(ii) Assessment fees which are part of the course;
(iii) Certification fees which are part of the course; and
(iv) GST imposed on components supported for SFC use.

Penalty charges apply if you:
(i) are absent/ no show;
(ii) withdraw from a course within 14 days of the course start date; 
(iii) fail the assessment

SFC cannot be used to offset penalty charges imposed by Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
