About Course
Course Objectives
This module provides an insight into the fields of genomics and proteomics. Students will study the functions of genes and their interaction within a genome, the importance of the human genome project in the discovery of new drugs, gene therapy, biological sequence analysis using bioinformatics, genetically modified organisms, protein expression, structure and functions of proteins, methods of purification and analyses of proteins.Course Description
In the Applied Genomics & Proteomics (AGP) module, students will learn about the functions and interactions of genes within a genome, including insights into the Human Genome Project’s impact on drug discovery and gene therapy. They will also explore bioinformatics for biological sequence analysis, genetically modified organisms, protein expression, structure and function of proteins, and methods for protein purification and analysis. This knowledge prepares students for advanced roles in biotechnology and pharmaceutical research.Course Structure
