About Course

Course Objectives

The course aims to provide ITE graduates with strong foundation in mathematics, chemistry and biology which will prepare them for their progression to the Diploma in Nursing course.

Course Description

The Certificate in Bridging Studies for Enrolled Nurses (CBSEN) course is a 16-week (135 hrs) part time course. Classes are scheduled on Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 0900 to 1200 hrs.

Topics covered are:
1) Academic Writing and Presentation Skills (45 hours)
2) Basic Mathematics (45 hours)
3) Introduction to Biology (45 hours)

Certificate in Bridging Studies for Enrolled Nurses

Certificate in Bridging Studies for Enrolled Nurses
Academic Writing and Presentation Skills (NP-010952)
This module trains students in the skills of academic research, writing, and presentation to meet the needs of polytechnic education. Students will be involved in writing exercises, class discussions and mini lectures, which are contextualised in contemporary issues on health and medical disciplines.
Basic Mathematics (NP-010953)
This module aims to provide students with an understanding of the basic principles of mathematics and its application in nursing practice.
Introduction to Biology (NP-010954)
This module aims to provide students with a comprehensive foundation on the principles of basic biology with its relationship to physics and chemistry. Students will acquire fundamental knowledge to facilitate their pathway in to Diploma in Nursing.

Entry Requirements

Condition 1

Highest qualification

NITEC in Nursing;
or

Highest qualification

Higher NITEC in Paramedic and Emergency Care;
or

Highest qualification

Higher NITEC in Eldercare; 
or

Highest qualification

Certificates awarded by the School of Nursing/ Ministry of Health, Singapore for the training of Enrolled Nurses.
and

Condition 2

Working experience

At least one year of cumulative post-enrolment nursing work experience as an Enrolled Nurse (EN) in healthcare settings

Refund and withdrawal policy

  • Please note that a 100% refund will be available if the withdrawal request is submitted more than or equal to 14 days before the course start date.
  • Please note that a 50% refund will be available if the withdrawal request is submitted less than 14 days before the course start date.
  • Please note that no refund will be available if the withdrawal request is submitted on or after the course start date.
