Course Objectives

Build participant's skillset with the technologies required to manage building operations and services such as air-conditioning, lighting, electrical and security systems and how to manage property and assets, green buildings and gain insight into smart building operations.

Learn the various types of risks management, fire hazards and fire safety measures for facilities management.

Course Description

PDC –   Facility Systems and Technology Objective
This Post Diploma Certificate aims to equip participants with skillsets required to manage the various Mechanical Systems, Electrical Systems, Sustainable Technologies and Green Building Management within a building.

PDC –   Managing Facilities Objective
This Post Diploma Certificate aims to equip participants with skillsets required to manage the fire safety, security, asset management systems and strata management of properties. Upon completion of the PDC, students will be qualified Fire Safety Managers

Diploma (Conversion) in Facilities Management

Post-Diploma Certificate in Facility Systems and Technology
Electrical Systems (NP-013622)
This module provides the participants with the knowledge and understanding of electricity supply, deregulation of energy markets, electrical distribution buildings, lighting systems, and emergency supply. In addition, maintenance requirements, electrical safety procedures, inspection, testing and commissioning of electrical systems will also be covered in this module.
Mechanical Systems (NP-013621)
This module provides participants the knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of operation of various types of air-conditioning, mechanical ventilation, water and sanitary systems in buildings. Installation and maintenance requirements for these systems will also be covered. Participants will have hands-on practice on how to inspect, conduct test and commission these systems.
Sustainable Technologies and Green Building Management (NP-VSTGBM)
This module provides participants with sustainable technologies and green building designs and concepts. Coverage includes energy efficiency, green building materials and technologies, indoor environmental quality and water conservation and is intended to enhance and reinforce knowledge on built environment sustainability. Introduction to Green Building Legislative Framework, Green Mark 2021 (GM:2021), Green Building Movement, Energy Efficiency, Energy Management, Building Performance, Internet-of-Things, Data Analytics, Intelligent Building Automation System and Application of Artificial intelligence and Building Information Modelling in FM operation.
Water Efficiency Management (NP-013624)
This module will equip facilities managers with the knowledge and skills to conduct water audits and apply water efficiency measures to reduce water consumption in commercial/residential and industries. Coverage includes regulation on water efficiency requirements, cooling towers operation and water consumption, industrial water solutions, swimming pools operation and water consumption and water efficiency management plan (WEMP).
Post-Diploma Certificate in Management of Facilities
Facilities and Strata Management (NP-VFSM)
This module provides a comprehensive overview of the administration and maintenance of facilities and strata-titled properties. It covers key areas such as contract procurement, contract management, financial management, and relevant common laws, including contracts and torts. A particular emphasis is placed on the Building Maintenance and Strata Management Act (BMSMA), with the aim of delivering value for money, enhancing service contract performance, and ensuring optimal operations of facilities and property. Additionally, the module introduces the integration of technology, specifically Building Information Modelling (BIM), to improve efficiency and productivity in facilities management.
Fire Safety Management (NP-013626)
This module provides students with the knowledge and practices of fire safety. The roles, responsibilities and practical skills as a fire safety manager will be covered in this module. Topics include types of fire hazard, fire safety factors and considerations, roles and responsibilities of fire safety manager, management of evacuation procedures for the different occupancies in building, casualty management and case studies.
Security and Risk Management (NP-013627)
This module equips the participants with the knowledge to identify security risk, workplace safety and health management/ hazards for different organisations and physical environment. To apply appropriate risk assessment and management techniques and hazards control measures. Knowledge of building performance is included to assess risks due to building defects and deterioration.
