Course Objectives
On completion of the module, the students should be able to:1. justify the decision to perform myopia management in adults, young adults or young children;
2. manage adverse outcomes, such as variable and poor vision in children using the different treatment strategies (multifocal contact lenses, orthokeratology, low-dose atropine);
3. diagnose and manage the signs and symptoms of pathology associated with high myopia; and
4. explain and discuss with children and parents likely myopia control outcomes, pros and cons of different management strategies, including behavioural, optical and therapeutic options.
Course Description
Myopia and its Complications - Part of Post Diploma Certificate in Community Optometric Practice (SDCO) is a 60 hrs module. This module examines the epidemiology, physiology, risk factors, measurements, correction and clinical management of myopia. Students will learn strategies to control myopia and myopia-related ocular complications.Course
