Post-Diploma Certificate in Environmental & Chemical Analyses
Analytical Applications and Management 1 (NP-011473)
This module aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to perform routine laboratory analysis and administrative work. Topics relevant to a career in analytical science such as laboratory housekeeping, quality documentation, sample analysis and QA/QC procedures will be covered. Candidates will complete an assignment which requires them to analyze and reflect on the skills and competencies of an analytical science-related job.
Chemical Safety (NP-011474)
This module will cover the competencies required to understand the effects of hazardous substances on the body, identification of the sources of hazardous substances and the implementation of control measures to manage the risks associated with these substances.
Topics covered will include GHS system, safety datasheets, risk assessment and management, chemical hazard communication, PPE, engineering control, and chemical management systems.
Environmental Testing (NP-011476)
This practice-oriented module introduces students to key aspects of environmental & water chemistry and air quality monitoring for application in pollution control, resource recovery and water & wastewater treatment.
Gas Chromatography (NP-011475)
This module will cover the detailed operations of Gas
Chromatography from method development (oven temperature, headspace, calibration, optimization, derivatization), data analysis (internal and external standards, normalization) to method validation and troubleshooting. The selection, maintenance and optimization of detectors (TCP, FlO, etc) will be covered too.
