Course Information

As organisations increasingly prioritise meeting Environment, Social, and Governance (ESG) targets, Facilities Management (FM) teams find themselves playing a more integral role in ESG initiatives and reporting. To enhance their efficiency and effectiveness in these efforts, FM practitioners must embrace and implement smart and sustainable technologies and methodologies. Through a facilitated course, participants will gain insights into the integration of smart and sustainable technologies to drive FM digitalisation and visualization that leads to positive and sustainable outcomes. The course will feature use cases from Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) and offer hands-on experience in the use of platforms such as Telegram to support FM practices.

Learning Outcomes

  • Learn about NP’s Integrated Operations Centre journey, the challenges encountered and how they were overcome.
  • Learn to harness powerful and easily available tools to achieve quick wins in FM digitalisation.
  • Learn about the use of messaging services such as Telegram to facilitate FM operations.
  • Be acquainted with Industry partners’ smart and/or digital FM platforms that can be deployed.
  • Application of LUMA Human-Centered Design Thinking framework.
  • Apply what you have learnt to define what success will look like for your organisation’s smart and sustainable FM drive, as well as how it can be achieved.

Day 1

  • Ngee Ann Polytechnic Journey towards its’ Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) development
    • Why did NP embark on this journey?
    • NP’s definition of success for this journey
    • NP’s deployment of smart and sustainable technologies
    • The challenges encountered and overcoming them
  • Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) Operations such as
    • Security Ops using Physical Security Information Management (PSIM) and data/video analytics
    • Management of FM operations, energy, water, ACMV, Lift, etc using BMS as well as IoT systems and Digital Twin.
  • Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) Operations such as
    • Smart Toilet Case Study with analytics
    • Case study on Process Automation in FM and cost savings scenarios
    • Case study on Dashboarding and Data Visualisation for data-driven insights and decision making

Day 2

  • Use of Telegram chatbots for FM operations
    • Telegram chatbot for FM operations
    • Demonstration and prototyping simple Telegram chatbot
  • Sharing by Partner(s) on their Smart Platforms and Devices

Day 3

  • Facilitated Workshop via LUMA Human-Centered Design to guide organisations towards the deployment of smart and sustainable FM technologies
    • Introduction to LUMA Human-Centered Design
    • Defining what success looks like.
