About Course

Course Objectives

This course covers essential skills required by leaders in the twenty-first century workplace. These include managing for team performance, impactful communication and skills for complex problem-solving. To acquire effective team management skills, participants will learn how to generate clear and understandable team goals, identify productivity indicators and apply strategies needed to close performance gaps. They will also be equipped with tools for decision-making and problem-solving.

Course Description

Participants should be able to:

1. Monitor and Assess Team Performance by:
- Generating clear and understandable team goals
- Identifying examples of quality work and successful standards
- Using team discussion and reflection to compare team performance to goals
- Identifying strategies needed to close performance gaps

2. Acquire skills for task-focused team roles, which include:
- Organizing skills essential to getting tasks done
- Decision-Making skills for options evaluation and decision
- Problem-Solving skills to develop solution options
- Communication skills to communicate ideas and performance
- Delegating skills to manage job distribution
- Feedback skills to give constructive feedback

This course covers essential skills required by leaders in the twenty-first century workplace. These include managing for team performance, impactful communication and skills for complex problem-solving. To acquire effective team management skills, participants will learn how to generate clear and understandable team goals, identify productivity indicators and apply strategies needed to close performance gaps. They will also be equipped with tools for decision-making and problem-solving.

  • Effective Team Performance: Learn Tuckman’s five stages of group development and understand different group types and their functions
  • Building Trust & Alignment: Learn how to build and maintain trust within the team, as well as achieve congruence and alignment to boost team performance
  • Communication Skills: Master essential verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, differentiate between hearing and active listening, and address perceptual distortions and other communication barriers.

  • Advanced Problem Solving: Develop expertise in identifying problems, performing root cause analysis, and utilizing PPE (Procedure, Products, and Equipment) for troubleshooting and minimising impact.
  • Solution Generation & Implementation: Learn to generate practical solutions and implement them effectively to address issues and improve team outcomes.
  • Decision Making Skills: Distinguish between problem solving and decision making, and apply the GOWERCA framework to make informed, strategic decisions.

SkillsFuture Credits (SFC);
Credit card (e-payment);

Refund and withdrawal policy

  • Please note that a 100% refund will be available if the withdrawal request is submitted more than or equal to 14 days before the course start date.
  • Please note that a 50% refund will be available if the withdrawal request is submitted less than 14 days before the course start date.
  • Please note that no refund will be available if the withdrawal request is submitted on or after the course start date.

Remarks

SkillsFuture Credit (SFC) can only be used to cover:
(i) Course fees payable;
(ii) Assessment fees which are part of the course;
(iii) Certification fees which are part of the course; and
(iv) GST imposed on components supported for SFC use.

Penalty charges apply if you:
(i) are absent/no-show;
(ii) withdraw from a course within 14 days of the course start date;
(iii) fail to meet terms and conditions for funding eligibility.

SFC cannot be used to offset penalty charges imposed by Ngee Ann Polytechnic.
