Course Information

This course seeks to help learners to develop knowledge and skills in mechanical and electrical services operations as well as apply green and sustainability initiatives toward the management of facilities. Learners will also develop awareness in the areas of digitalisation in facilities management, smart facilities management, internet of things, data analytics, cloud computing, digital twin, workplace & location management, clean air solutions, energy & asset management, connected chillers and remote advisory services.  

The modules taught in this course are stackable into our Diploma (Conversion) in Facilities Management (Link). Learners can complete three other modules to be awarded the Diploma (Conversion) in Facilities Management. However, only learners who meet the entry requirements for the Diploma (Conversion) can be admitted into the programme.

Learners are REQUIRED to go for a 2-week learning with an industry partner within 1-month after completing the core modules of the 4-month course.

Learning Outcomes

After equipping learners with the necessary knowledge and skills for facilities management, this course seeks to enable learners to pick up smart and sustainable facilities management know-hows. These are essential skills listed in the Facilities Management Job Transformation Map to facilitate the FM industry’s digitalisation and automation drives.

Targeting mid-career individuals, the course with its’ attachment will help learners to re-skill so that they can join the facilities management industry.

Lesson Plan

Mechanical Systems – 45 hours

Develop knowledge and skills in the operation of various types of air-conditioning, mechanical ventilation, fire protection, water and sanitary systems as well as installation and maintenance requirements.

Electrical Systems – 45 hours

Develop knowledge and skills in the operation of electricity supply and circuits, deregulation of energy markets and its impact as well as electrical systems and communication.

Smart and Green Building Technologies – 45 hours

Able to apply sustainable and green building design concept to our built environment on building performance. It also covers the application of technologies to improve systems energy efficiency.

Water Efficiency Management – 22.5 hours

Able to apply sustainable and green building design concept to our built environment on building performance. It also covers the application of technologies to improve systems energy efficiency.

Two weeks of learning on Smart Facilities Management Application - 80hrs

Learning at Johnson Controls or equivalent organisation(s) to learn the practical deployment of smart and sustainability solutions in facilities management.

Certification

Learners who are keen to pursue the Diploma (Conversion) in Facilities Management must meet the entry requirements and complete another 3 modules within a 1.5-year validity period


Entry Requirements

Applicants with any of the following qualifications are invited to apply for the course:

▪ The following GCE ‘O’ Level grades and with at least 3 years of relevant work experience:
– English Language (Grade 1-6)
– Mathematics (Grade 1-6)
– One other subject(Grade 1-6)
▪ NITEC with GPA >=3.5 with at least 2 years of relevant work experience
▪ Higher NITEC with at least 1 year of relevant work experience
▪ NITEC in Technology or Services with GPA >= 3.5 and with at least 2 years of relevant working experience
▪ Higher NITEC in Technology or Services with at least 1 year of relevant working experience
▪ Relevant WSQ Diploma qualifications (depending on sector, Programme & level – bridging course may be required) with at least 3 years of relevant working experience
▪ WPLN (Level >= 6) may be accepted as ‘O’ Level equivalent English Language & Mathematics requirements

Preferred: have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office e.g. Word, Excel and Powerpoint.

Important: Students enrolled in the course are expected to bring their personal laptops with the Windows 10 operating system.

Course Fees

Funding period for this course is from 1 Jan 2023 to 30 Sep 2024.

SkillsFuture Credit

Union Training Assistance Programme (UTAP)
